Still here…

I made it a point to write like every single day, but it did not happen. It’s not that I didn’t have anything to say, but it was because I wanted to make sure it was perfect before I wrote about it. In the end, I never did write about it.

Today, a friend of mine mentioned about her past blog writing experiences. It was during a time when she was still studying. She wrote about everything under the sun including the milo in the office pantry where she was doing her internship. That reminded me of why I wanted to start this blog in the first place. This blog was supposed to be an outlet for me to let my thoughts flow. But in my quest to make it all sound nice, neat and attractive, I’ve made it into a gargantuan task.

Starting from today for 1 month, I shall give myself the space to write whatever I want, even if it is “rubbish”. I will write everyday, without fail, about anything I want to write about.

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport – The Deluxe Rooms

I think the highlight of the Deluxe Rooms at the Crowne Plaza must surely be the glass-walled bathrooms! It’s like some in thing now for hotels to boast see through toilets. At least at the Crowne Plaza, you can pull down the shades if you are shy. I heard that at the Klapsons Hotel in Singapore, it’s totally see through, no shades provided, take it or leave it! Quite awkward if you are there on business, won’t you say? But hey, at least you can now watch TV while showering, something I always wanted to do!

See the shades up there? Or you could take a bubble bath while enjoying your favourite movie.

Every room boasts rain showers.

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport – The Suites

Here are some pictures of one of the Suites in the hotel. It’s about the size of 2 Deluxe rooms. The bed looks to be about the same size as the Deluxe room’s, but the difference between a Deluxe room and a Suite is that the Suite has a huge meeting area when you just enter. Also, the Suite features 2 washbasins so you don’t have to fight with your partner over who brushes his teeth first in the morning.

Unfortunately that’s not much of a view from the bathroom. It would be nice if you could look out!

Love the spacious meeting area! Not that I would be interested to have a meeting in my hotel room, especially if I’m on a staycation!

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport - View from Expressway facing room

I don’t really like these metallic turbine looking things on the facade of the Crowne Plaza hotel. It’s totally idiotic to have your view blocked just so as to have a nice looking facade. Make sure to ask for rooms that aren’t blocked by these metal fins. I believe the rooms in the middle of the hotel aren’t blocked.

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport

Got a tour of the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport today. I am stunned by how different it looks from the inside as compared to the dark colours of the facade! The interior of the hotel gives a bright and cheery resort feel, especially when you are in the rooms and at the club lounge area! Really pretty. The rooms that face the runway aren’t noisy at all even though you can hear and SEE the planes from the open-side corridors.

Driving past the Crowne Plaza, the facade doesn’t seem that enticing. The windows are tinted black and the walls are black and brown. On the inside, it’s a different story. Some parts are indeed pretty dark, what with the dark coloured fabrics and paintings. Don’t get me wrong, that looks nice too. But with dark, you can appreciate the bright even more.

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport - Club Lounge

I love the club lounge decor. Don’t you find it so bright and cheery? It’s only for the club level rooms. When we were there at 3pm on a Tuesday, there was absolutely no one at all. Do you see the frangipani motif chairs in the 4th photo? Each chair costs $5000 and there are only 5 of them in the whole wide world. Yes, all 5 are at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Singapore, and they were custom made for the hotel. Not too sure why they don’t use Orchids, as that’s Singapore’s national flower, but I guess everyone wants to be creative. I sat in one of them just so I can say that I’VE SAT IN A $5000 CHAIR AND YOU CAN ONLY FIND THIS CHAIR IN SINGAPORE! It’s very low and allows you to sink right in. Just kind of forces you to relax, in front of the TV.

This is the public lobby lounge area. Also very cool looking with contemporary furniture. I could imagine lounging in one of the sofa seats with a good book and a cup of coffee! If Changi airport’s coffee joints are all jammed packed with tourists or students hogging the tables, here’s a secret hideaway that people don’t seem to know about. Well they do now.

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport - Pool Area

Love the pool area too. There are palm trees extending right into the pool area so you feel like you’re swimming in some tropical oasis! You can even swim around the palm trees, and hide there if you want. The rooms on the pool floor open out directly into the pool area. Kinda like having your own private pool, minus the hefty fees. Even if you take the cheapest room (Deluxe Room), you can still have a pool floor room, it’s 1st come 1st served. Or you could get one facing the runway. Get to watch the planes take off minus the deafening noise.

The pool area’s a pretty romantic place. A number of solemnizations have been held here, and it costs $1800 for 4 hours for 30 pax, food included. Unfortunately, the capacity limit is only 30 pax. Birthday pool parties anyone? On Valentine’s Day, the hotel plans to have a few tables on the little bridges. Dinner under the stars and overlooking the waters. How romantic is that? I’m quite keen on that. Going to reserve a table for myself asap!
